Pink is the official color of October, as individuals display their support for friends and family (or themselves) who have been diagnosed with the disease. According to the American Cancer Society, about 232,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the United States in 2014, and 40,000 women will die from this disease.
Throughout the month, organizations and individuals contribute funds that will be used to increase awareness about the risks of breast cancer, and to educate about steps women can take to prevent the disease, or to ensure the best possible outcome through early diagnosis and treatment.
A longtime supporter of breast cancer awareness efforts, Arlene Manning of Head To Toe by Arlene contributes throughout the year in support of her sister, who was diagnosed early and chose to undergo a double mastectomy. And with 40 years in the business of working with women and helping them look and feel their best through exceptional skin care, Arlene has seen first-hand how the disease can devastate an individual, a family, and the community.
While pink apparel, ribbons, and other accouterments have their place, Arlene has chosen instead to extend the opportunity to her clients to donate this month through the Head To Toe by Arlene efforts, by contributing $10 when a client purchases a specially priced Hydrafacial Treatment at the exclusive Marietta spa.
She chose Hydrafacial as it is one of the most beneficial treatments in terms of repair and rejuvenation, and it is safe for all skin types. “When you have a hydrafacial, it puts moisture back into your skin,” Arlene says. “Not only is that good for you in terms of looking younger and having your skin feel smoother, it also encourages healthy cells to turn over more quickly.
“When the weather changes, so does our skin. When we are outside, we’re exposed to pollution and changing temperatures, but that happens when we’re inside, too,” she says. “Hydrafacial will help treat damage you’ve done to your skin over the summer, and help you look radiant as the holidays approach.”
Throughout October, you can treat your skin to a Hydrafacial for just $99 (normally $150), and Arlene will donate $10 from each Hydrafacial purchased and performed this month to breast cancer education and awareness efforts.
Her mission is to ensure that we take care of ourselves – inside and out – from Head To Toe!
